Stand Together: The Gaming Community vs SOPA and PIPA
As some of you may or may not be aware, our federal government is voting on a bill soon that if passed, would censor the internet and ultimately end many of the freedoms we experience while using it. This means that a lot of websites (possibly including our own) would cease to exist in the very near future if either or both of these bills are ultimately passed. Texas representative Lamar Smith (the author of SOPA) has vowed to continue to push the bill forward after the media protest black out today. Here he is depicted in an anti-SOPA poster below:




I just covered this issue myself on our show as well. I’m glad to see more people standing against this joke of a law that would lock basically both of our sites down with little recourse at the drop of a hat while stifling free speech and growth in the community.
It certainly got a lot of people’s attention today, that’s for certain. The guy who authored the bill is one of the worst Congressmen in history. I hope Texas votes him out soon.
