2DS View #35: We’re Back Already?

Wow, that month went fast. Hope you all had a great Christmas and/or New Year!

I’ll be completely honest: I did not expect this feature to run into 2012. Right up until that last post, I figured news would dry up after Christmas and I’d need to make some drastic changes to keep 2DS View going. Then they announced Pokémon + Nobunaga’s Ambition.

Mighty Switch Force Flips onto eShop Next Week! [UPDATE #3]

Just announced at a Nintendo eShop event, WayForward’s Mighty Switch Force is out on December 22 in Europe [and the US and Australia]! In an odd reversal of release order from previous WayForward games, the Mega Man X-esque puzzle-platformer isn’t due to hit the North American eShop until Q1 2012. Destructoid has a great preview of the game, plus a sample track (entitled “Yummy”) from the game’s soundtrack, composed by Jake “virt” Kaufman and releasing for free alongside the game. While you listen to that, be sure to take a look at the new screenshots in our gallery after the break.

UPDATE 3 (17/12): WayForward has tweeted that the Dec 22nd date applies to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, AND North America, and that the game will sell for $5.99/€6!

2DS View #33: 2012 Preview Edition

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving break. We’re back this week with screens from the only notable DS release in 2012 (unless there’s any surprise announcements in the new year, of course), Devil Survivor 2. There’s also a couple of “man, Japan gets all the best stuff” stories, which I realize are kind of cliche, but they are also completely true.

Zoo Keeper 3D Coming to Japanese Retail Soon

This seems better suited to the eShop if you ask me, but nonetheless Zoo Keeper 3D will make it’s way to Japanese store shelves on January 26, featuring 8 modes and two-player (local or online). There’s a couple more screens and some boxart after the break, but basically it looks like Zoo Keeper with polygonal characters. Which is to say, quite nice – but again, does this really need to be a full-price boxed retail release?

2DS View #32: Pokémon Sunday

This is it, folks. With the release of Professor Layton in Europe, Devil Survivor 2 stands alone as the one significant western DS release on the horizon. And no games means no news, as you can probably tell by the fact that Pokémon DLC is just about the only thing here this week. I did dig up a couple of other morsels for you though, in the form of an Inchworm Animation video interview, and some screenshots of MapleStory DS. Come back next week for… more Pokémon content, probably.

This week’s 2DS View should not be confused with the Japanese television show Pokémon Sunday (pictured above). This is nowhere near as crazy and weird, I’m afraid.
